Missy A.
Veterinary Assistant
Missy became an assistant for Fur and Feathers Veterinary Care in October 2022. Born to parents who raised show dogs, she fell in love with animals at a young age. After graduating high school in 2002, she completed Animal Science 1 & 2 courses through BOCES, learning vet assisting, kennel attending, and grooming skills. She volunteered at the Broome County Humane Society for a year and went on to become the small/exotic animal caretaker at Creature Comforts for over a decade. She then worked for a year at Vestal Veterinary Hospital, and now proud to be a member of the Fur and Feathers team!
Outside the animal world, Missy has volunteered 8 years of service as a firefighter.
When home, she loves spending every moment caring for her little menagerie.
- 5 Dogs: Ramona, Dalia, Rumpelstiltskin, Churro, and Brockie
- 2 Kitties: Nugget and Oona
- 2 Bunnies: Jellybean and Licorice
- Senegal Parrot: Malachi
- Red-tailed Boa: Leviathan
She is also currently fostering a 13 year old Chinchilla for BOCES, hoping to adopt, so he can have his forever home with her.
