VETERINARY ASSISTANT

I am very excited to bring 33+ years of experience in high quality, teamwork-based veterinary care to share with my clients (previous and new) for excellence in quality of life of our beloved furry or feathered family members, our pets. My current pets include two (2) rehomed Greyhounds (through Monica's Heart Greyhound Adoption) and one (1) rescued Galgo (Spanish Greyhound) from SAGE. I've shared my life previously with Dobermans, collies, loving mutts, horses, rabbits, chinchillas, guinea pigs, rats, and mice, as well as Blue-Fronted Amazons, cockatiels, Senegals, and zebra finches.

Through extensive additional training and consistent Continuing Education, I bring to you advanced skills in surgery, medicine, preventative care, physical rehabilitation (like human physical therapy), veterinary hospice (end-of-life care with focus on quality of life), and ophthalmology for dogs, cats, birds, and exotic animals (e.g., rodents, rabbits, ferrets, etc.). If I know that a nearby specialist can do a better job for your pet's care, I will refer you to get that expertise.

Formerly, I was co-owner of Southern Tier Veterinary Associates (nee Valley Animal Hospital) and earlier worked in several upstate veterinary practices, so I've seen a great variety of problems and solutions to bring to our teamwork approach to help you care for your pets.

Education is an important focus for me (both for myself and others), so Vet and Owner together can choose the most appropriate treatment plan for our companions. I have taught courses in Animal Handling and Surgical Techniques (at Cornell University), Dog First Aid, How to Choose a Vet, Wildlife Rehabilitators First Aid for Animals, CPR (Human) and Career Day talks throughout the area. Through the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce we were able to connect with local businesses and staff members. We are the veterinarians of record for the Broome County Humane Society and visit there regularly to assist in veterinary assessment and care. We are the veterinarians of record for the Broome County Sheriff's Department Canine Officers - providing health assessment, preventative care, education about health risks, and emergency care when needed. Personal hobbies include SCUBA diving, dog obedience training, reading science fiction, and crocheting.

I look forward to working with you to keep your furred or feathered family member healthy and happy for a long satisfied life.
